Once the categories on the competitive landscape (previous page) reveal themselves, each category is explained further in depth by displaying products on a scale from least to most relevant to that category. In addition to plotting the specific product being researched on these scales, products from other realms of design that reflect the same design trends and intent are plotted to provide the designer team with a clearer and more complete understanding of what physically specifies each category. This in turn dictates to the designer a wider scope of further exploration regarding materials, form, usability, color and texture.
